Stephen
has been acting in films since the 1980s. He comes from a family
of four actor brothers (his older brother is Alec Baldwin). While he
was
working on the TV show Young Riders (1989-1992), Stephen and his wife,
Kennya,
needed help around the house with their two daughters. They hired an
older
housekeeper from Brazil who was a Christian. Stephen says that her love
for
Jesus shined through her and impacted him greatly.
After the TV series ended, Stephen and
his
family
moved to New York where Kennya started attending a Brazilian church.
She
became deeply involved in a Bible study and gave her life to the Lord.
Kennya
began intensely praying for her husband.
Stephen says he gave his life to the
Lord at
that
time, but his interest in Christianity didn't become strong until after
the
terrorist attacks on September 11th. In March 2002, Stephen was
baptized

want to be real
clear about my … position … and that's this: I am not
interested in anything else in my journey, other than trying to give
the youth some weapons in this battle. That's all I want to do. I think
they are the most defenseless and have the least weapons.
All I see is people doing all this stuff that they think is so
important. I mean, the Christian music industry … What can I
say? I met
with one of the biggest guys in the Christian music industry about a
year and a half ago and said, 'Dude, what's the deal? How come I don't
really see that many videos anywhere on television of the cool
Christian artists?'
[He responded] 'Oh well, that's because there just isn't a market for
it and there's really no place to play them.'

try to get them played? That's dumb!'

chatting on
the cell phone, talking about his career in movies and television, and
his
conversion to Christianity two years ago. Baldwin, 38, said his famous
acting
brothers, Alec, Daniel and William, have all been supportive of his new
spiritual
outlook.
"It's gotten a lot of people praying for them to get into the kingdom,"
Baldwin
said. "I don't pressure them or anybody else for that matter. I've come
to
realize very early in my walk that it's usually by example that people
can
be most receptive. If you lead by example, people will be intrigued and
curious
and maybe it will get them to read the Word."
Baldwin said he became a Christian after watching his wife immersed in
Bible
study and prayer. "I watched her devoutly in prayer every day," Baldwin
said.
