It is this
person's opinion that it is not right and healthy to be worshipping and
praying to Mary, who according to various places in the Bible did not
remain a virgin, so bang goes the immaculate conception theory.
But as usual, I must offer biblical proof and say as usual never take
my word for it, read the Bible for yourselves.
Jesus was always keen to promote only one thing above everything else
in the entire universe, that was the Father, God, etc. But what about
Mary. Surely if God by His spirit came in to Mary and produced a son,
hence Son of God and because He came from Mary, hence Son of Man, makes
her the mother, God's wife, hmm, or does it.
In my Bible commentary book it points out things like the following:-
John 19:26 When Jesus therefore
saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith
unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
Now why did Jesus say woman, my Bible commentary book puts it thus:-
In calling His mother "Woman," the Lord did not show lack of respect.
But it is noticeable that He did not call her "Mother." Does this have
any lesson for those who might be tempted to exalt Mary to the place
where she is adored?
Now of course it's true that she is blessed, is to be honoured in the
sense that we honour, well should, our own parents say. If we love our
partner, and they died we would not as people of God expect to start
praying and putting up pictures all over the house of him/her and
having statues made of him also, and gathering the children around
below that statue and giving worship and praise and prayers, etc.
Jesus was clear throughout the gospel who it was only who could be
worshipped and honoured. No other idols, as God hates this.
Luke 1:42 And she spake out
with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed
is the fruit of thy womb.
Also we have those that still talk as Mary who died a virgin and was
immaculate in that sense. Hmm, is this not trying to make her mother of
us, an equal with God.
Satan is clever, if we can believe in the Son of God, and he can't
change that, stop you believing that, then he will use another tactic.
In this case trying to get you to believe in the Mother, a wife of God.
Where does it say that God had sex, an imitate relationship with Mark,
no where, exactly.
Next we look at what actually the gospels do infer:-
Matthew 1:24 Then Joseph being
raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took
unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought
forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
Now I admit it's only in Matthew, but did you see
it, in verse 25 it clearly says what, let's look at another version
then:-
He brought Mary home to be his wife, (25) but she remained a virgin
until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus. (New Living.)
This comes as shattering, I know, I'm not here to try and upset you, I
just love revealing the truth. I'd be
an awful child of God if I misled you and lied all the time would I not.
So now you want further proof of Jesus so called other children. Well
one of them is James.
Galatians 1:19 But other of the
apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.
It's interesting that Paul says the
Lord's brother and not say 'our Brother' Surely this would have been
more inkeeping with the rest of the New Testament.
1 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, called
to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother.
1 Corinthians 16:12 As touching our
brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the
brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will
come when he shall have convenient time.
2 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of
God, and Timothy our brother, unto the
church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all
Achaia:
Colossians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of
God, and Timotheus our brother.
I think you get the picture.
Now again one can get into arguments over translations, that's his
brethren, I used to be known as brother Lee, and my cousin Robin by
relative
status I could also call my brother, because he's a brother in Christ,
but not my actual physical brother. So we return to the Bible again
then.
Mark 6:3 Is not this the
carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of
Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were
offended at him.
Not only does that verse say James confirming now at
least twice that Jesus had a literal physical brother, he also had more
brothers and sisters.
Hey just had a thought, was not going to mention the one in Jude
thinking that it may be another James, but above I notice in Mark 6:3
that it said Juda, I wonder:-
Jude 1:1 Jude, the servant of
Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God
the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called.
Either way it becomes clear that Mary was ordinary, had other children
and was not to be honoured like the most high God. We are to only ever
exalt in that way the one true God himself and no other object or
person, they become idols else.
Jesus was to also show this by his treatment of Mary, sure he loved and
honoured her and had respect but nothing was to get in the way of His
commission and fulfillment as written in the Bible.
Matthew 12:46 While he yet
talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood
without, desiring to speak with him.
Matthew 12:47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy
brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
Matthew 12:48 But he answered and said unto him that told him,
Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
Matthew 12:49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his
disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
It's interesting here if the word Brethren is referring to the brothers
of Jesus.
However as usual read the Bible, or in my case searching on key words
and we have our answer and double proof now of the verse in Mark 6:3
Matthew 13:55 Is not this the
carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren,
James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
Don't you just love it when scripture confirms
things, helps you, backs up what you have been told, thought, learnt,
etc.
Now the only thing could be said is where they adopted like John the
disciple became Mary's son and he his mother, see John 19:26 again. But
then we have to remind ourselves of the verse in Matthew 1:25, '...and
knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn...' And the fact
that:
Matthew 12:49 And he stretched
forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my
brethren!
Yes it does seem strange to be saying disciples so
they could not be the ones referred to and then say brethren.
The trouble comes in the broad use of the term brethren. We do have the
word brother however unmistakably in Galatians 1:19.
Mark 3:31 There came
then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him,
calling him.
Remember this site is here to reveal the truth to you. So I'm delighted
to be making such an impact on people's lives for the Lord Jesus
Christ. Also remember never take my word for anything, do your own
research, and read the Bible and see for yourselves, after all how do
you know I have not like so many others taken things out of context,
read the verses before and after, okay. |
