God's Spiritual Sword.
THE WORD OF GODS - A SPIRITUAL SWORD. The Bible was
given to us in the
form of a spiritual sword. "For the Word of God is quick, powerful, and
sharper than any two-edged sword." (Hebrews 4:12). We need this weapon
for spiritual victory. God's armor is fully sufficient to overcome
all the flaming arrows. We need to read, study, and memorize the
Word of God.
THE BIBLE IS THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD. The Bible is
God's revelation to
us through inspired Godly men. No book has ever been written
compared to the Word of God. It was chosen to accomplish His devine
will. According to 2 Tim 3:16, all scripture is given by inspiration of
God, and is profitable for;
a. Doctrine. The Bible teaches us the great truth of God. It is our
source of knowledge on how to be saved.
b. Reproof. Convicts us from wrong things that we do in our daily life.
We want God to be pleased with us.
c. Corrections. The Bible shows us the right way to live and corrects
our faults. We should live a holy life.
d. Instructions. The Bible is like a handbook of instructions showing
us how to live righteous and successful.
THE WORD OF GOD IS THE BOOK OF AGES. It is sacred,
sure, and eternal.
"Forever, O Lord, thy Word is settled in heaven" (Ps.119:152). "Heaven
and earth shall pass away, but my Word shall not pass away" (Mt.
24:35). "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, but the Word of God
shall stand forever" (Isaiah 40:8).
THE WORD OF GO WAS LOVED BY THE SAINTS. "And I will
delight myself in
thy communication, which I have loved" (PS. 119:27). "The law of thy
mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver" (Ps 119:72).
"How I love they law! It is my meditation all the the day" (Ps. 119:97).
REVERENCE AND RESPECT THE WORD OF GOD. Reverence and
respect what the
Word says. We should treat God's Word with the same respect that we
would treat Jesus if He were here in the natural. Proper reverence and
obedience to God's Word will bring blessings to any individual or
congregation. Let's read it, heed it, desire it, preach it, rightly
divide it, live by it, use it, and memorize it.
PRAYER AND THE WORD OF GOD. Prayer consists of a
personal relationship
with God, acknowledging who He is, with praise and thankgiving. We
present our prayer petition in faith and expectancy, combined with
reading the Word of God. We worship a Savior that hears and answers our
prayers. Nothing is impossible to Him. "The effectual fervent prayer of
a righteous man availeth much" (Ja.5:16).
WE MUST OBEY THE WORD OF GOD. God's wor must be in
complete authority
of our lives and so strongly fixed in our mind that it becomes the
dominant influence in our thoughts, our attitudes, and our actions. It
is the will of God for every Christian to grow toward maturity in the
Spirit. Growth comes when we actually obey the instructions God has
given for living righteously.
A PROMISE FOR EVERY NEED. The world in which we live
is filled with
disturbances, confusion, and uncertainty. Many events and situations
lead to frustration and anxiety. It is comforting to know that we have
the Word of God and that it offers answers to our prayers, comfort to
lonely hearts, healing to the sick, and salvation for the lost. It
offers peace, joy, hope, strength, guidance, courage, and deliverance..
THE WORD OF GOD IS SPIRITUAL FOOD. The Word of God
should become part
of us as natural food is to our body. As we read and obey the Word it
builds our inner consciousness. Our spirit becomes filled with
assurance and confidence as we meditate on the Word. God wants is to
reach a place of maturity where we can spiritually feed ourselves and
be able to stand firm in face of any adveristy.
THE WORD OF GOD IS LIKE;
a. milk - the milk of the Word for new converts (Pet 2:2).
b. meat - the meat of the Word (Heb. 5:12-14).
c. bread - for our soul (Jn. 6:51).
d. honey - it gives strength (Ps. 19:10)
e. hammer - it tears down and builds up (Jer. 23:29).
f. fire - judges, purifies, and consuming abilities (Jer. 20:9).
g. sword - piercing ability on sinners and saints (Heb. 4:12).
h. mirror - it reflects the true condition of man (Jm. 1:23).
i. seed - after planting, it brings forth life and growth (Mt. 13:19).
j. water - it is cleansing, quenching, and refreshing (Eph. 5:26).
k. lamp - shows where we are now and guides us (Ps. 119:105).
l. precious metal - its precious beauty and value (Ps. 119:127).
READING THE WORD OF GOD INCREASES FAITH.
As we feed upon the Word of God, our faith will grow and we will be
able to claim and recieve the wonderful promises God has provided for
us. "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" (Rom.
10:17). The more you saturate your soul in God's Word, the stronger
your faith will become.
DEFEAT SATAN WITH THE WORD OF GOD. No demon can
stand against the powerful Word of God. Satan can not withstand
exposure to the scripture. Satan is not match for the Spirit-filled
believer who is clothed in full armor and equipped with God's Word.
Stand firm and immovable on God's Word and when the enemy puts up a
barrier, knock them down with the Word. We are more than conquerors
in Christ.
THE WORD OF GOD IS JOY. There is joy in God's Word.
"For the joy of the Lord is our strength" (Neh. 8:10). As you read
God's Word, ask the Lord to open your eyes to the beauty and truth of
the Gospel, then see how much bubbles up in your soul. The Word of God
will put a song in your heart, change sadness to gladness, and sorrow
to joy. Ultimate joy is Christ and His Word dwelling within us.
THE WORD OF GOD IS REFRESHING. The Word of God is
cleansing, reviving, refreshing, and empowering. It upholds, orders
steps, builds up, and unites believers. It is like a heavenly
transfusion. As you read God's Word it opens your eyes to the beauty of
the truth and the Gospel. It is the only book that cleanses the life of
its reader.
THE HOUSE OF GOD AND THE WORD. The House of God is a
place where saints meet to worship our Savior, in one mind and one
accord, and to read His word. Our pastor prays and seeks diligently for
a sermon that will bless the saints. We meet with great expectation, so
that our souls will be fed and our needs will be met. The Word of God
is the joy of our salvation and sourceof our foundation.
RECEIVE VICTORY FROM READING GOD'S WORD. Victorious
living is reading the Word of God and growing into spiritual maturity.
It enables believers to overcome whatever problem or trial comes
our way. You will have victory when you stand in faith on God's Word.
Victory belongs, not to the fainthearted nor the weak, but to the
Christian who studies the Word of God. Apply it to your life so that
you can resist Satan's surprise attacks. You can be victorious!
THE WORD OF GOD FOR YOUR FAMILY. Build your family
on a solid foundation. Read the Word of God, pray, and teach your
family this wonderful Christian heritage that we are so blessed with. A
life built on Jesus and His teaching will stand in the trials and
testing of life. The Word of God is stability in our unstable world.
READ GOD'S WORD, CLAIM HIS PROMISES, AND LET'S AGREE FOR
