So
what makes Dean Jones and
people like Cliff
Richard and Stephen
Baldwin turn to Jesus when they clearly already had it all in life.
Perhaps
the answer lies here.
All
about the born again christian actor Dean Jones who founded the
Christian Rescue Committee.
Actor Dean Jones, best known for his starring roles in
the Disney films That Darn Cat and The Love Bug,
brings the warmth and wisdom of Father Tim Kavanaugh to life. And more
than 40 other actors, including Jones's wife, Lory, lend their voice
talents to the production as well.
Jones was not familiar with Jan Karon or the Mitford
series before he was asked to voice the role of Father Tim. But after
reading the books, he says, "I was transported into the atmosphere of
Mitford, and into the lives of the characters."
Playing an Episcopalian priest is not the only way
that Jones has been expressing his faith recently. A born-again
Christian since 1974, Jones founded the Christian Rescue Committee
(CRC), an organization that helps provide a "way of escape to Jews,
Christians, and others persecuted for their faith." Jones launched the
ministry in 1998 while touring in Showboat.
While in Washington, D.C., for a performance at the Kennedy Center, he
learned that there were more than 200 million Christians being
persecuted throughout the world for their beliefs. "I couldn't believe
the numbers," he says. "I thought they were exaggerated."
Since then, the CRC has helped rescue over 50
Christians and Jews from prisons around the world. Jones says a third
of his time is spent in his work as president of the CRC.

ST. JOHN IN EXILE
Dean Jones' one-man portrayal of John, the last living disciple of
Jesus, in exile on the island of Patmos is phenomenal. Set during the
persecution of thousands of Christians under Emperor Domitibloc, John
is dictating the Revelation when several Christians (the audience) are
permitted to visit him. Though John is 86 years old and confined to
live in a cave, he is portrayed as tenaciously spry, strong in spirit
and full of humor.
During the course of his exile, John has continued his evangelizing the
Roman guards by conspicuously leaving copies of the gospels to be
confiscated. He has also found humor in adopting several cave rats as
"pets" and appropriately naming them after the guards and rulers -
Annas and Caiaphas, Herod and Pontius Pilate. He has also acquired a
taste for locusts and honey as was highly recommended by John the
Baptist.

To honor Jesus
Christ by rescuing Jews, Christians, and other
persecuted peoples from areas where they are oppressed for their faith;
to oppose the persecution of any people for their faith or religious
tradition; to encourage and assist the suffering Christian Church
around the world; and to educate the international community on
the dangers of anti-semitism, in order to help assure that the
Holocaust never happens again.
