So are the foods we eat making us unwell, ill, giving us cancer and so on.
You know with the recent bowel cancer that my mother has had and my sister a while back with Breast Cancer it makes you wonder. So I've been doing my research into all this, I recommend that you first click here, opens in a new window then return here for more. It's all to do with harmful chemicals and it's not just eating them either that can cause us to be unwell or have side effects.

Too much salt DOES increase risk of heart attack
Cutting back on the amount of salt you eat could reduce your chances of developing cardiovascular disease by a quarter, according to a new report.
Scientists have also discovered that reducing the amount of salt consumed could lower the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases by up to a fifth.

4.H.C.R. comments: Again I'm just amazed when I keep seeing headlines that the Bible has told thousands of years a go. God is a loving God and so gives us a choice. Trouble is people don't want to listen, that is until it's too late. Then it's woe is me or someone else, a friend, relative, worse still, father, mother, daughter, son. We are not just talking cancer here, as the report shows above. Same with sex, if we could only see How much God loves and wants the best for us, we'd be, wow, really, I'm sorry Jesus, honest, thought you and your Christians were always boring, killjoy, can't do this and that, but having contracted a sexually transmitted disease, and gotten this and that and been in misery with such and such most my life, heck I have nothing to lose, I accept you in my life.
Will it be a bed of roses, no, there are other challenges, always are with God, (laughs.) But one knows that unlike mankind, who often we can't trust these days, God will always have our best interest at heart, even when it might not seem it at the time to us.

Also with heartburn and possibly an ucler myself I too had to do something unthinkable for me, in fact I thought it was the last stronghold, last area of my life that God could ever touch, change.
I loved my cappuccino and my crisps, yet my heartburn, I assumed ulcer by now was getting worse, the amount of remegel and whatever else I used was starting to become useless as I'd go most of the day and worse at night with on and off burning, like someone lighting a match inside you.
I read about caffeine and so on.
So I dropped the cappuccino and still do have 1 cup of green/back like tea and one decaff in the afternoon max, along with water which I admit I don't drink enough of, and sometimes juice, like cranberry juice, etc. I also dropped the crisps, well, instead of say 1 to 2 a day, that becomes a week now. I stopped Chicken and as I type this on 18th April 2007 have been chicken free for about three weeks plus.
I still get bit of heartburn, but heck it is dramatically reduced, trust me.
HOWEVER it was with the offering, which I have to say sadly she accepted, of chemo, though a low injected dose, which they said was about 13% effective, that I started to look into diets and what we eat, rather what we should not be eating and what we should be eating.
I'm quite alarmed to say the least.
What also amazes me is that people don't want to know, yet accept cancer and what the medical profession then throws at them, no questions asked.

If you clicked that first link at the top of this page, and read and returned here, if not, please do and keep this page open for more, much more, then you'll have discovered what I have. See God is a loving God, not some killjoy wanting to spoil our fun, satan loves making sin seem like fun, it is, so it seems until it all goes wrong, drugs, oh great, sex oh great, but hiv and aids and addiction to drugs and stealing and in some cases death from over dose tell a different story.
Yes we don't want God telling us what we can and cannot do, despite the fact He made us and so knows better.
Nothing changes, trust me, satan convinced Adam and Eve and and so many today that they can be their own God, trusting in mankind first and foremost.
Yet we see cancer and stabbingg and shooting and, oh the list is endless, take God out of the picture as they are doing in school and bang.

Anyway, hope you stayed with this, not put off by the above truth, because I love, SIMPLY love revealing truth. I don't want your money, NOTHING, I just want to reveal truth to you, because God loves you and wants you to live, healthly, AMEN.
BUT remember as my motto goes, never take my word for anything, always do your own research after you read this.
I've never had so much fun now shopping, especially for organic stuff, and eating stuff I'd not normally touch with a, you know what pole.

Aspartame:
Aspartame in chewing gum is absorbed directly though the buccal mucosa of the tongue, mouth, and gums, making it a far worse poisoning than even if it were given intravenously. The nerves serving this area and their vascular supply derive directly from the brain, so the Aspartame absorbed through them goes directly into the brain, by passing the spinal cord and blood brain barrier. Aspartame can be found in thousands of products such as: instant breakfasts, breath mints, cereals, sugar-free chewing gum, cocoa mixes, coffee beverages, frozen desserts, gelatin desserts, juice beverages, laxatives, multivitamins, milk drinks, pharmaceuticals and supplements, including over-the-counter medicines, shake mixes, soft drinks, tabletop sweeteners, tea beverages, instant teas and coffees, topping mixes, wine coolers, yogurt. So what about shampoo, surely not you laugh, but I've made my own now, and bought a natural one, though still we find those familiar words in that even:
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) are detergents and surfactants that may pose serious health threats. They are used in car washes, garage floor cleaners and engine degreasers — and in 90 percent of personal care products that foam. Animals exposed to SLS experienced eye damage, depression, labored breathing, diarrhea, severe skin irritation and even death. The No Shampoo Alternative

Are we looking at the ingredients before we buy stuff or just taking it for granted. What about washing your clothes then:
We think of our homes as somewhere we should feel safe - yet the toxic chemicals found in routine household products make it potentially dangerous.
While there has been much research into how individual chemicals behave, there is little knowledge of what their combined effects could be, explains dr steven smith, environmental scientist at King's College London.
'Furthermore, in a laboratory we would only handle such chemicals when wearing protective gloves, and we would keep these substances locked away.'

There are alternatives to bleach and air fresheners so on, too many to mention here, so see the link below:

What I'm going to do next is to take some house hold things, no names, and see what chemicals they have in and find out about them on the net for you.
Remember many of these products like food also come in plastic containers that can also react and leech, so on. Oh I hear yeah, small amounts, but no matter how small, if there is the slightest chance it can do harm, why risk it.

Over the counter Shampoo:
Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) Ammonium Laureth Sulfate (ALES)  When combined with other chemicals, SLES and ALES can create nitrosamines, a potent class of carcinogens. It is frequently disguised in semi-natural cosmetics with the explanation "comes from coconut".
cocamidopropyl betaine: Another common petroleum surfactant is cocamidopropyl betaine, which many companies indicate as derived by coconut oil, but uses petrochemicals to manufacture. Health risks include skin sensitizer to cause burning, itching, scaling and blistering of the skin, penetration enhancer to alter the skin structure allowing chemicals to penetrate deeper into the skin potentially increasing the amounts of other chemicals reaching the bloodstream and may have harmful impurities or breakdown to form toxic chemicals linked to cancer. HEXYLENE GLYCOL: INHALATION RISK: A harmful contamination of the air will not or will only very slowly be reached on evaporation of this substance at 20C. EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE: The substance is irritating to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE: Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis.
Cocamide MIPA: Some sources suggest that it is a suspected carcinogen, and that it has been identified by researchers and physicians ‘around the world’ as a cosmetic ingredient that has caused adverse or toxic effects. Click here for source
DMDM Hydantoin: Contains formaldehyde: Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen (causes cancer). Causes allergic, irritant and contact dermatitis, headaches and chronic fatigue. The vapour is extremely irritating to the eyes, nose and throat (mucous membranes). click here for source
Propylene Glycol: Much has been made by promoters of safe non toxic personal care toiletries and cosmetics of the dangers of known toxic chemicals such as Propylene Glycol and Ethylene Glycol, a related chemical. Although exposure to high levels of Propylene Glycol is known to cause serious and potentially irreversible health conditions, the chemical industry tell us that "small" quantities or low level exposure of Propylene Glycol is "safe" to use on the skin and in food. According to the safety data sheets of industrial chemical manufacturers, chemicals such as Ethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol will cause serious health conditions, including liver and heart damage and damage to the central nervous system if sufficient is absorbed by the body. You see the trouble comes in mixing these darn things, for natural foods, we know it's okay, God given foods, fruits and vegetables are safe and can be mixed, well you never say oh no, can't have an apple now I've just had carrots, I might explode, or something. Yet these so called chemicals that are tested okay, or least in low doses, so on, might react different when put together with other chemicals and then used over a period of time on skin that clearly can be penetrated, after all suntan lotion goes into your skin right, more on that next.

Sun-tan lotion

The majority of sunscreens available on the market today are chemical cocktails.  They are used without knowing what they are and what they do to our bodies in the long term.  The toxic ingredients in sunscreens are not limited to the active ingredients ie the chemicals that provide the SPF, but are also the supporting chemicals eg ones to make them stay on our skin, last longer, feel less greasy, etc etc etc.

Numerous studies have shown that the chemical UV filters are endocrine disruptors.  Researchers from the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Zurich assessed the ability of several sunscreens to disrupt endocrine function and found that five of the six sunscreens stimulated a breast cancer cell type that is turned on by estrogen-like chemicals.  These chemicals were:

  • benzophenone-3 (Bp-3),
  • homosalate
  • 4-methyl-benzylidene camphor (4-MBC)
  • octyl-methoxycinnamate (OMC),
  • octy-dimethyl-PABA.

Other studies have found the following chemicals to influence our hormonal system:

  • 4-Methyl-benzylidene camphor (4-MBC)
  • oxybenzone
  • benzophenone-3 (Bp-3)
  • octyl-methoxy-cinnamates (OMC)
  • octyl-dimethyl-para-amino-benzoic acid (OD-PABA)
  • homosalate (HMS) Clich here for source

I give up here, many contain something of something else, and others, well, list is endless and seems alot of these irritants are used in most things. I'd advise anyone worried to check out the ingredients before you buy products, though I could not find one shampoo without that darn Sodium Laureth Sulfate in it.
From washing powders to shampoo to suncreen to goodness only knows what, it's all very well them saying they are tested and alright in low doses, what they forget is people today will wash themselves away, washing their hair every day, some maybe two times a day, depends on job.

Now for the Food and drink
Chicken: In addition to growth hormones, many types of food given to livestock contain antibiotics. The main concern that many experts have with using antibiotics in cattle, pigs or chickens is the threat of creating antibiotic resistant bacteria. According to the Organic Consumers Association, bacteria that has become antibiotic resistant can infect humans and create “fatal illnesses” if antibiotics will no longer work against them. With all of these problems caused by hormones and antibiotics placed in meat and milk producing animals, it is no wonder organic food buying has become so popular. Fast food chicken contains cancer-causing chemicals; warning labels sought
Pesticides: Pesticides are widely used in agriculture and have been linked to various types of cancers including breast cancer, bowel cancer, leukaemia, and lymphomas. High doses of some of these chemicals can cause cancer in animals, but the levels found in foods are much, much lower. Click here for source
Chlorinated Water: Lifetime consumption of chlorinated tap water can more than double the risk of bladder and rectal cancers in certain individuals, two new studies conclude.
Both studies examined the lifetime water-consumption patterns, diets and lifestyles of over 2,200 middle-aged and elderly Iowans suffering from either bladder, colon, or rectal cancers. Those profiles were then compared with those of a pool of nearly 2,000 healthy 'controls'.
Recent research has suggested that chlorine reacts with naturally-found organic compounds in water to form what the study authors call "chlorination byproducts." Click here for source
Benzene: Worrying levels of the cancer-causing chemical benzene have been found in four soft-drinks available in the UK, the Food Standards Agency says.
Benzene was undetectable in most of the 150 drinks tested.
Two companies have already withdrawn their drinks from shops and the FSA says the other two should follow suit.
The FSA urged drinks companies should reduce benzene levels - but says consumers should not be worried if they have drunk the affected products.
